When Men Sin (1)

Moses’ record of the events in Eden’s Garden teaches us that man sins when he does what God has forbidden (Genesis 2:17; 3:6). Adam and Eve were created “very good,” but they chose to do what God told them not to do. We are born with no guilt nor are we born with a “sin nature” (Ezekiel 18:20). When we make a choice like they did, we carry our own guilt.
Not all sins are specifically named but many are. In preparing men for the new covenant, Jesus forbad divorce and remarriage in the absence of sexual immorality (Matthew 19:1-9). Jesus forbad men from wearing religious titles, specifically saying “Do not call anyone on earth your father” (Matthew 23:9). “Father” as a religious title is forbidden, yet the leader of the Catholic Church is commonly referred to as “Holy Father.” Do you hear preaching on these things God has forbidden?
The wages of lying, lewdness, and homosexuality is spiritual death because God has forbidden them (Romans 6:23). Learn to fear God and avoid what He has forbidden!
