"The Way" or the Anglican Way ?

National headlines continue documenting the split of the Episcopal Church. There will now be an additional Anglican community called the Anglican church of North America, which is in the process of organizing.

As that process begins, the new group identifies “eight elements as characteristic of the Anglican way and essential for membership” which include various human councils and writings such as the The Book of Common Prayer as set forth by the Church of England in 1662. www.united-anglicans.org/about/provisional-constitution.html.

In Acts 24:22, Paul preached about “the Way” to Felix. In doing so, did Paul teach Felix about the Anglican way or the Church of England’s Book of Common Prayer? “Of course not, it did not exist,” you say? Precisely. A quick scan of religious history tells us that the Episcopal Church is related to the Church of England which broke from the Catholic Church in 1534.

In Acts 22:4 Paul said “I persecuted this Way.” Acts 8:3 shows that Paul persecuted the church. What church was he persecuting? Did he persecute those of the Anglican way or the Catholic way or the Baptist way? Read the Bible to find the answer.

And when you find “the Way” which Paul persecuted, you will find the church Paul persecuted-- it was the “church of God which He purchased with His own blood” (Gal. 1:13; Acts 20:28). This church has no head offices in Rome, Cleveland, TN, or Anderson, IN. If it has “head offices,” they are located in heaven where “the head,” Jesus Christ, resides.

If your desire is to find salvation in “the Way” which Paul proclaimed, then obey the gospel which he proclaimed (Romans 1:16) which was given by the Christ he proclaimed (Mark 16:15-16; Galatians 1:11-12) which adds you to the church he proclaimed (Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4). If that is not the church of Christ, who is it the church of? To which do you belong: church of Christ or church of man?
