Sunday School for Atheists?
In Palo Alto, CA you can attend an atheist Sunday school (Time, 12-3-2007). It supports the atheist’s position “that it’s O.K. to not believe in God and gives them a place to reinforce the morals and values they want their children to have.”
“Morals” is defined as “rules of right conduct... the distinction between right and wrong.” (dictionary.com)
Morals without God have no sound basis. Man-made morals are subjective and changeable—poor characteristics for “rules of right conduct.” Contrast man’s morals with God’s morals--
Preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15) God’s morals are objective, equally applying to all, such as His morals of marriage (Matthew 19:6,9; Ephesians 5:23,25). What do children in atheist Sunday school learn about marriage? Subjective ideas.
The word of the Lord endures forever (1 Peter 1:25) Neither the basic needs of man nor the basic rules which define right behavior change with time. What age-enduring principle has atheism contributed to morality?
