Organizing the Family and the Church: the new Anglican Church
When you start a new family, how must it be organized? “He who made them at the beginning 'made them male and female,'” (Matthew 19:4). But not all agree, resulting in controversy.
The recent Episcopal church split is the result, in part, of controversy concerning the organization of the family. The more conservative group refuses to accept the Episcopal church’s stand in which they permit two men, or two women, to form a new family. This completely dismisses Jesus’ words, and I am glad for those who recognize this!
As the separation of the Episcopal church has occurred, the new group must organize itself. How will they do that? They have begun by naming Robert Duncan “primate- and archbishop-designate of a proposed new body...” (source)
When did God give them permission to choose one man to be an archbishop? The only arch bishop (chief shepherd) in Scripture is Jesus Christ (1 Peter 5:4). He is the only world-wide bishop. God allows all other bishops to function only within the local church (Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5-7).
So this new group resists changes to God’s organization for the family, but in the organization of their church they just make up their own rules?! If organization does not matter in the church, why does it matter in the family? The same God revealed both.
Whether in the home or the church, God is a wise masterbuilder (1 Corinthians 3:10). Let’s go back to His blueprint for His church.
