Lessons From Noah About Sin
Let’s notice what the life of Noah teaches about sin--
- Sin causes innocent people to suffer (Genesis 6:13; 7:7) This was not a pleasant time to live- the earth was filled with violence (v13). World-wide violence means world-wide suffering of innocent men, women, and children.
Also think of the difficult decision for the wives of Noah’s sons. They entered the ark, but their parents and siblings chose death instead of obeying God’s simple instructions. What needless heartache those ladies endured. Are your sins having a similar effect on others? - God punishes sin (Genesis 6:5,13) God cares when the innocent suffer from violence. Today, God notices the 4,000 babies “aborted” every day in America. By Noah’s preaching, God was teaching men then and now that sin is a serious matter (2 Peter 2:5). Do you know how seriously God views your sin?
- Escaping from destruction (Genesis 6:22) Noah escaped the destruction of the Flood by following God’s “escape plan.” Someday, this world will be gone and either eternal life or punishment will remain for you (Matthew 25:46). Take God’s warning more seriously than Noah’s neighbors did.
