Lessons From Noah About God
Let’s notice what the life of Noah teaches about salvation—
- Sees each person and their thoughts (Genesis 6:5, 8) Whether or not you believe this, it is true. Thus Jesus said “whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart” (Matthew 5:28). God knows the heart. This comforts the pure mind and life.
- Keeps His word (Genesis 6:17-18) God kept His word to punish the disobedient and save the faithful. The New Testament often refers to Noah to affirm this truth (Hebrews 11:7; 2 Peter 2:5; 3:5-7). Jesus taught that the unrighteous will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life (Matthew 25:46). Do you hope or fear that God will keep His word?
- Expects man to follow His pattern (Genesis 6:14-16) God gave Noah precise instructions and expected him to follow them all. He expects the same of us (Colossians 3:17). God said that bishops (elders) must be the husband of one wife, yet the Catholic church forbids bishops to marry (1 Timothy 3:2, 4-5; Titus 1:5-6). Does this “pattern” matter?
