Jesus' Baptism
People give a variety of reasons for rejecting the Bible’s association between baptism and remission of sins. Some claim that since Jesus’ baptism was not for the remission of sins then neither is ours. It is true Jesus was not bapt for the remission of sins but to avoid twisting the Scriptures, we must see if His baptism was intended to be the same as ours--
- did Jesus’ baptism add him to the body? Does ours? (1 Corinthians 12:13)
- did Jesus’ baptism add Him to Christ? Does ours? (Galatians 3:27)
- was Jesus baptized into His death? Are we? (Romans 6:3)
- did Jesus’ baptism save Him? Does ours? (1 Peter 3:21)
Clearly Jesus’ baptism was different than ours, therefore “arise and be baptized and wash away your sins calling on the name of the Lord” (Acts 22:16).
