Is It Possible?
Time magazine published a survey which indicated that 66% of Americans “have no doubts that God exists” while 13% believe in some sort of higher power or force, 11% believe in God but have doubts, and 5% do not believe in anything beyond the physical world. This tells us that many Americans are asking “Is it possible . . .”
- ... to be sure that there is a God?
- ... to know where to find the words which God has spoken?
- ... to know that the Bible is an accurate record of God's revelation?
- ... to understand what the Bible teaches?
- ... to actually obey what God tells man to do?
Man's ideas have thrown these questions into the realm of uncertainty. Whether by the theory of evolution, alleged biblical contradiction, or the hypocrisy of a professed Christian, many people have concluded that one, some, or all of the 5 questions (above) cannot possibly be answered with certainty. The most popular idea is that we each should choose to answer these questions in the way that we personally prefer. Israel has already tried that, and it didn’t work (Judges 21:25; Hosea 4:6).
We welcome questions or challenges to these articles. In every religious question, our purpose is to challenge you to search the scriptures (Acts 17:11). If that search reveals the need to challenge us then we hope you will, like Priscilla and Aquila (Acts 18:26). Come, let us reason together.
In this series, we will answer the above questions.
