Find the Scripture: Easter Events

An area church sign asked the question “What does Easter mean to you?” A more important question is “What does Easter mean to God?” Though most people associate Easter with an annual celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, did God connect the two? Using your Bible to find the following items might help to answer that question--

  • The apostles giving instruction concerning an annual celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.
  • Any church observing an annual seven-day period called “Holy week.”
  • Any Christian preparing for Palm Sunday or Lent.
  • Any Christian celebrating Jesus’ resurrection on a day called “Easter.”
  • Jesus establishing “The Roman Catholic Church” or a denomination.

If you find any of these, please contact us. If you don’t find them then find out who created those things-- if not God, then who? Consider asking your pastor this Sunday. When he answers, remember his duty: “If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God” (1 Peter 4:11). Then remember your duty: test the spirits and search the Scriptures daily to find out whether those things are true (1 John 4:1; Acts 17:11).
