Who We Are
“Jamestown church of Christ” accurately identifies who we are.
First, and most importantly, each member here is in the one church (body) of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4). Jesus said “I will build My church” and each of us have been added to that church (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:47). Being members in that body, we have Jesus Christ as our only earthly and heavenly head (Matthew 28:18; Ephesians 1:22-23). There is no world-wide Bishop, president, or leader over the church beside Him (1 Peter 2:25).
In Acts 2, those who gladly received the Word, were baptized, and began working together for their Lord (Acts 2:41-42). In Acts 9, after Saul of Tarsus obeyed the gospel, he desired to join with other disciples in the Lord’s work (Acts 9:26, 28). After the gospel was wide-spread, Paul referred to “the churches of Christ” (Romans 16:16). When you read what God instructed those churches to teach and do, you will know what we teach and do.
If you find it difficult to believe that any church today would simply teach and do what the church of the New Testament was taught and did, then get the Bible and come visit (or contact) us and see for yourself. Read the articles below for more information.
